Why is Gwyneth trying to reinvent herself as a country music star?

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Singing sensation? Gwyneth Paltrow reminds us that she's now a music star in a new rock-inspired photoshoot

She's an Oscar-winning actress, mother, runs a lifestyle blog and has released her own cookbook.

Most would say Gwyneth Paltrow is quite the over-achiever. So why is the 38-year-old moving in on husband Coldplay rocker Chris Martin's turf?

After a film about a country music singer and two appearances on Glee, Gwyneth appears to have been bitten by the music bug... and she's just revealed she's in talks to sign a record deal.

And in case anyone was still unsure that she is now a rock star, Gwyneth has posed amongst guitars, a keyboard and old records in a new photoshoot.

The actress is interviewed by her good friend Faith Hill for the new issue of InStyle magazine, and talks about performing onstage with her pal Jay-Z, dance parties at her and Martin's London home, and ditching London for Nashville.

Gwyneth got to know Faith, 43, while working on Country Strong with Tim McGraw, the singer's husband. 'We've been friends for a year,' Gwyneth says of the country music star. 'But now we're soul mates.'

While Miss Paltrow and her children Apple, six, and Moses, four, spent many nights at the Hill-McGraw household during filming in Tennessee, Faith was keen to know what goes on in Gwyneth's abode across the pond.

'I like having dance parties at my house and being super-goofy with my girlfriends,' Gwyneth says.

'We just play dance music like whatever is on the radio and then old stuff - Michael Jackson, disco - and new stuff; we mix it up. It's fun.'

'What's a typical Saturday night at the Paltrow-Martin house?' Hill asks.

'Well, last Saturday night, I made turkey meatballs and we all had dinner together, then put the kids to bed and watched a movie on Apple TV,' is Paltrow's reply.

'We always go out one night of the weekend, because it's nice for me to get out of the house. I cook so much during the week, it's good for me to have a break and eat something that I don't make, like sashimi or Indian food.'

And while Gwyneth and Chris, 34, make their home in London during the school year, Gwyneth reveals that she longs for her native America - and that she felt right at home in Nashville.

'I loved it. There's something about it here - it is so relaxing and everybody is so kind and I just loved it,' she tells Faith in the candid interview. 'Cut to me moving into your house.'

The Iron Man star was so enamoured with the music capital that she devoted two articles on her lifestyle blog GOOP to the city.

'London is great, but I miss America,' she adds. 'Nowadays, I feel like we're citizens of everywhere.'

Gwyneth, who took to the stage at the recent Grammys and Oscars, also reminisces about performing onstage with her good friend Jay-Z.

She says: 'I got onstage with him at the Royal Albert Hall [in 2006]. I stood in the back and sang with him. That was the night of my 34th birthday and I drank a bunch of champagne before going on just to get through it.

'It was also before I had any singing lessons. I was sooo nervous, but that was just for fun. I'm glad I did it.'

The full interview appears in the new issue of InStyle, on sale now.

Diva behaviour: Kim Kardashian storms out of recording studio as her singing début gets off to shaky start

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Launching a new venture: Kim Kardashian records her début single Jam (Turn it Up) on tonight's episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York

Everything Kim Kardashian turns out to be a major success, but she may have her work cut out when it comes to launching a successful music career.

On last night's episode of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, the curvaceous reality star hit the recording studio to lay down her début single Jam (Turn It up).

Unfortunately, things didn't quite go as planned as Kim, 30, had trouble getting her vocals right.

It's not that easy: Kim had trouble getting her vocals right and walked out of the studio in disgust

At one point, she was so crest fallen, she stormed out of the studio, leaving mega-star music producer The Dream waiting for her to get it together.

It was clear she thought recording a CD would be a piece of cake, but it turned out to be much more difficult than she imagined.

She got a bit of encouragement from her friend, R&B singer Ciara who has had several hits including the single Goodies.

Working with the best: Kim's new song was produced by hit-maker The Dream who has also worked with Beyonce, Rihanna and Kanye West

After returning to the studio, Kim began to feel more confident and was able to finish recording the song and even said she was pleased with the recording.

Kim released the single this past Thursday on Ryan Seacrest's KISS FM breakfast show.
The poppy dance track sounded similar to other work by The Dream, who has produced hits for the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce and Kanye West.

'It's a fun dance song,' Kim told Ryan Seacrest, going on to describe the response it got in Las Vegas over New Year.

'We played it in Tao in Vegas and the whole crowd was singing along in the end.'
The reality star-turned singer revealed she was uneasy at first about trying something new.

Encouragement: R&B singer Ciara tries to reassure Kim as they meet for breakfast

'I think it's only normal for me to be nervous,' she said.

'I'm human… this is definitely something that I don't do. I needed to step outside my comfort zone. This is a really big deal.'

Half of the profits from the single to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Kim says she did the song to bring her out of her comfort zone and while she enjoyed it, she has no plans to release an album.

Time to shop: Kim got in a bit of retail therapy and she grabbed an iced tea today in Malibu, California

Gaga over the girl: Lady Gaga is brought to tears during a duet onstage

By ANDREA MAGRATH

Emotional: Lady Gaga is reduced to tears by one of her biggest fans, ten-year-old Maria Aragon

She famously lives for her legions of followers, whom she calls her 'Little Monsters.'

And Lady Gaga proved just how much she adores her fans when she invited her biggest one onstage to join her for a duet in front of a 20,000 strong audience during her Toronto concert last night.

The singer, 24, invited ten-year-old YouTube sensation Maria Aragon to the gig after her cover of Gaga's latest single Born This Way went viral on the website.

Biggest fan: The singer welcomed the youngster on stage with a big hug

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, welcomed the Winnipeg girl onstage at the Air Canada Canter to wild cheering from the audience.

The pair embraced, with an excited Gaga picking her fan up and twirling her around.

They sat down together at the piano, with Maria perched on Gaga's lap, to perform her toned-down version of Born This Way.

'I'm really excited that Maria is here today, because Maria represents what this song is all about,' Gaga told the audience.

Rising star: Maria, from Winnipeg, was confident in front of the 20,000-strong crowd

'It's all about the next generation and the future and no more divisiveness.'
Afterwards, the Grammy winner handed the microphone over to the confidant youngster, who thanked her idol.

Gaga's eyes filled with tears as she listened to Maria, a star in the making, as she gave a shout out to her family and friends back in Winnipeg and told the audience she'd be back to help perform the radio version of the single later in the concert.

'I just want to say I'm really grateful. I want to thank all of you for all your support,' Aragon said. 'I'm from Winnipeg and I came over here to sing for you, I hope you enjoyed it.'

Encore: Gaga invited Maria back onstage for a the radio version of the hit single

'If I could just touch one person, that's enough,' a tearful Gaga said after Maria had left the stage. 'She made me all nervous because she's such a superstar.'

Maria made international headlines last month when her tribute to the star, a video of her sitting at her keyboard playing Born This Way, received eight million hits in just five days.

To date, it has been viewed over 17.6 million times.

Miss Aragon was interviewed on television and radio after Gaga shared a link to the video with her eight million Twitter followers, writing: 'Can't stop crying watching this. This is why I make music. She is the future.'

Backstage pass: Gaga uploaded a photo of the pair after the show, writing 'Myself +10 year Old Lady Maria of Winnipeg. She signed my t-shirt, she ate my heart, just like you'

She even appeared on the Ellen show and Good Morning America last week.

The youngster displayed some fashion finesse for her debut performance, walking onstage in black sequinned trousers, a hot pink hoodie, black leather jacket and a white hat.

Her pièce de résistance was certainly a bright orange toy monkey, which she wore around her neck as an accessory.

Gaga, notorious for her wacky style, commented: 'The monkey is fabulous. Who styled you tonight?'

Sensation: Maria's YouTube video has received over 17.6 million hits to date

Maria told her that her sister was responsible for the ensemble.

She later joined Gaga and her backing dancer onstage for the uptempo, radio version encore of Born This Way.

Gaga uploaded a photo of the pair together backstage, each wearing a T-shirt bearing the other's image.

She wrote: 'Myself +10 year Old Lady Maria of Winnipeg. She signed my t-shirt, she ate my heart, just like you.'

Travelling in style: Gaga touched down in Toronto yesterday ahead of the concert and posed for pictures for famed photographer Terry Richardson on the runway

Maria appears to be taking her sudden stardom in her stride, answering reporters questions with poise as she left the arena.

She told journalists that she and Gaga had rehearsed for five minutes before the start of the concert.

Tonight Gaga will fly to buffalo for a performance before returning to Canada for a gig in Ottawa.

Cheeky! Frankie Sandford sizzles in tiny leopard print hotpants as The Saturdays play last night of their debut tour

By JODY THOMPSON

Girls on stage: The Saturdays, (l-r) Mollie King, Rochelle Wiseman, Una Healy, Vanessa White and Frankie, were rounding off their month-long headline tour in the city

They've made a name for themselves by singing together, partying together and even wearing the same outfits - but Frankie Sandford was cut above her Saturdays bandmates on the last date of the Headlines tour last night.

The 22-year-old brunette was sporting daring cheek-flashing leopard print hotpants as the band rounded up their first ever string of live dates in Dublin.

The girlband are never shy about flashing their thighs - in fact, Frankie's bandmate Mollie King was also wearing shorts, but in not quite such an eye-wateringly short style.

However, it's unlikely Frankie was wearing the revealing outfit to garner any male attention.

The singer has been dating West Ham left back Wayne Bridge, 30, for the past two months.

She and her fellow Up songbirds Mollie, 23, Vanessa White, 21, and Rochelle Wiseman, 21, were rounding off their month-long live stint in 29-year-old Una Healy's hometown on Dublin at the city's Olympia Theatre.

Leather ladies: Rochelle, left, and Mollie, right, were both sporting raunchy black leather minidresses during the show at one point

Short and sweet: Vanessa, left, wore very short mini skirt during the concert after one costume change, while Mollie wore a neon vest and denim shorts

However, they won't have long to relax with their other halves, as they are heading straight into the studio to start work on their new album and prepare for their next tour, which will kick off in December.

Una gushed of her hometown gig afterwards: 'Tonight's final gig in Dublin felt like an incredible homecoming- all my family and friends were in the audience.'

But the other girls were a little sad to be ending their time on the road.

Mollie said: 'We've had an absolutely incredible time on our Headlines Tour and can't believe it's finally over' and Rochelle added: 'While we're all sad the tour is finished, we're really excited about the months ahead.'

And loved-up Frankie concluded: 'We feel confident that 2011 will be our best year yet!'

If she keeps wearing outfits as short as last night's, her male fans will certainly agree...

But if they fancy their chances with the singer, they might be out of luck.

Party on: The girls repaired to The Gibson Hotel in Dublin after their tour finale gig for a well-deserved celebration

The star spoke for the first time this week about her relationship with former England player Wayne.

The pair were first spotted together near Bridge's £2million Cheshire mansion in late December - just weeks after Sandford split from long-term live-in boyfriend Dougie Poynter.

Sandford claims she can't remember when they started dating, describing their romance as a 'whirlwind'.

Stepping out: Una, left, and Vanessa, right, were both wearing their party frocks for last night's do

She tells the new issue of More! magazine: 'I really like Wayne. It's going great with him.

'But we're just a normal couple really. To be honest, I'm really not sure how long we've been together, it's all been such a whirlwind...

'He's really special though and it's different with him.'

Saturdays night out: Mollie, left, and Frankie, right, seemed thrilled with the way the tour had gone

The girls celebrated the end of their tour last night meanwhile with a party in the Irish capital.

The girls donned their glad rags for a knees-up at the city's swish Gibson Hotel.
