Chaos: Police were called in to control fans outside Justin Bieber's Liverpool hotel today
Liverpool residents may have felt a case of a deja vu today.
The birthplace of the Beatles was brought to a standstill as screaming Justin Bieber fans took over streets outside the singer's hotel and police were brought in to control the hundreds of schoolgirls clambering for a glimpse of their idol.
The 17-year-old singer has been warned by police that he could be arrested for 'inciting a riot' if he steps outside.

Breaking free: Bieber negotiated with police to be allowed to go out on to his balcony to greet fans after he was warned he would 'incite a riot'
Bieber is due to perform at the Liverpool Echo Arena tomorrow night, and had planned on enjoying his day off with a historic Beatles tour around the city.
But his plans were nixed by police who fear the scenes outside the Hard Days Night hotel could descend into a 'possible riot situation.'
The Canadian hitmaker, currently holed up in a deluxe £950 a night suite, wrote on his Twitter page this afternoon: 'This is crazy. There are like thousands of people out there. Love everybody but gonna try and get some sleep. Please don't scream. LOL.'
Justin, who is famous for making time for his legions of 'Beliebers', appears to have grown frustrated with his enforced hotel-arrest, tweeted this evening: 'I can't even say hi to my fans outside cuz of the police. Some bull.
'Trying to work it out so I can say whatup to my fans,' adding: 'I love you guys!'
He managed to negotiate a compromise this evening, and was allowed out on his balcony to wave to the screaming fans.
Police have cordoned off the hotel entrance, holding hundreds of school girls - and their mothers - at bay.
One woman was led away by an officer who was seen giving her a stern caution.
Another young fan attempted to climb the hotel wall, while concerned hotel employees watched from inside.
Justin is in the middle of his world tour, and will play extra dates in London and Manchester next week before Sheffield and Nottingham and then heading to Germany.
The teen sensation reached eight million followers on Twitter this week, beaten only by Lady Gaga, with 8.6 million.
Overwhelmed: Schoolgirls clambered for a view of their idol, but he was been warned by police not to go outside
Trapped: Bieber and his entourage have been told by police that if they leave the hotel they could be arrested for inciting a riot
The scenes are reminiscent of the scenes that followed the Beatles at the height of their fame.
Hundreds of school girls headed straight for the hotel after school today, and were seen pushing and shoving as they attempted to get a photo of the star on their phones.
Bieber uploaded a photo of the scenes to his Twitter page taken as he attempted to venture outside earlier today to go sightseeing.
Not just the teens: A woman is led away and cautioned by police
Attendees have reported solid screaming throughout Bieber's two-hour sold out concerts.
The singer performs all of his hits including Baby, Never Say Never and Somebody To Love.
At his Birmingham gig, he broke hearts when he chose a girl from the audience to sing One Less Lonely Girl.
He picked the young girl from the crowd to sing to and presented her with 12 red roses declaring there was now: 'One less lonely British girl.'
Mania: A Bieber fan is overwhelmed... just like the Beatles fans in 1964
Look familiar? The chaotic scenes are reminiscent of police attempting to restrain Beatles fans in 1968
It was only for show though, as the teen idol recently went public with his romance with Disney princess Selena Gomez.
The pair attended the Oscars together last month in their first public appearance as a couple.
Although he didn't attempt a Brummie accent, he did speak in a Cockney accent in a bid to 'speak British'.
The teenager also spoke of his love for the national dish, fish 'n' chips.
Peace and quiet: Willow Smith - who is supporting Bieber on tour - and family, including father Will, managed to leave their Dublin hotel today bound for Liverpool without any problems
